Morphological Data

This tube-like structure is how our plant traps its prey. The first time we observed the plant, we found a small bug (about 4 mm) drowning within a sticky liquid at the base of the interior of the tube. The tube itself is 7 centimeters tall and about 2 centimeters wide.

Sugar Tests

We removed some of the liquid from the plant tube, then put it on a slide. The slide was placed on a hot plate and heated up. The color of the liquid did not change, indicating that there was no sugar present. If there were sugar, the color would have turned a different color.
